Incredible amounts of waste are produced every year. We do not want to contribute to this anymore but strive to reduce our waste amounts. We want to have the waste that we cannot avoid recycled as well as possible.

WHY SUSTAINABILITY IS VITAL FOR US
Everyone is talking about sustainability today. As they should! The current times are challenging us all to finally start acting in a more sustainable and environmentally compatible manner.
We at ATHOS have long put great store in sustainability. We have always used our products to create long-lived solutions that sustainably facilitate user lives.
Sustainability has acquired a second meaning for us as well in the meantime, however. Our planet’s screams for help are showing us undeniably that it’s time to rethink sustainability. We are barely able to recognise the forests right outside of our sites. The weather phenomena we experience today are entirely new to us.
OUR IDEA FOR CREATING A FUTURE WORTH LIVING INN
The path ahead of us is new to all of us, as are the challenges along its way. We know that we must act, but no one knows what measures are actually going to lead to the saving goal.
At ATHOS, we are taking many small steps in the direction of environmentally friendly sustainability, while at the same time constantly looking around to make sure we are heading in the right direction.
Step by step, we are developing a completely new sustainability for our company and our reel systems. Better for nature, responsible with all our resources and at the same time with products that are just as user-friendly and durable as ever.
THE TARGETS.
THE GRADUAL PATH TO GREATER SUSTAINABILITY WITH MANY SMALL TARGETS
Small steps will gradually lead to our joint great objective of keeping our planet worth living on. We at ATHOS work with three essential aspects to contribute to this.
Longer use of resources
Hardly anything is more sustainable than using resources already produced for as long as possible. This is why we make our products as long-lived as possible and invest in long-lived products in turn as well.
Reducing CO₂ Emissions
Our dream: CO₂-neutral production and work, contributing to the great 2-degree target. Our realistic goal: Reducing our CO₂-emissions considerably to gradually contribute to the great goal.
THE DEEDS.
Sometimes the opportunities to make a difference are right in front of our eyes. And yet we leave them unused for far too long.
At ATHOS, we have put an end to this and seized every opportunity to act in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Sometimes with very small changes, sometimes with big deeds.
According to the latest assessments of the CDP Score 2024 (official assessment of companies' CO2 footprint and environmental activity), we were awarded a “B” quality mark, which is above the global average index of “C”. We are proud of this result and will of course never give up on achieving even better ratings.
Measuring CO₂ emissions
Emitting less CO₂ is only possible if we know our previous carbon footprint. This is why we have been measuring our scope CO₂ emission values since 2019. This alone has enabled us to determine the first emission drivers and reduce our emissions under scope 2 to by 437 tons already in 2021.
Using renewable energies
The energy we need at our sites should be clean and renewable. This is why we are gradually switching to providers that supply us with environmentally compatibly produced power.
Generating renewable energies in-house
We are taking this one step further at our production site in Slovenia, where we are soon going to produce our own sustainable energy. On an area in excess of 2,000 m², we are building a photovoltaic system that is expected to supply production with up to 520,000 kWh of power per year from spring 2023 onwards.
Converting to electromobility
Every one of our drives is to become more sustainable. This is why we are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to more economical alternatives, and even to electromobility where possible. At the same time, we are expanding the company-internal infrastructure for sustainable charging of our vehicles.
Less waste in daily work
Many small elements add up to make the difference. We prefer digital documents to printouts in our everyday work, and fight for every sheet of paper. Where waste occurs anyway, we will carefully sort it to keep all resources in the cycle for as long as possible.
Using alternative materials
We are increasingly using more sustainable materials both for our daily work and for packaging our products. We have been using recycled plastic for some time now and use recycled paper and alternative materials instead of plastic as often as possible for packaging our products.
A strict eye on production
We are producing all rewinding systems in-house. This gives us complete control of the quality of articles and compliance with our internal sustainability resolutions. It also allows us to reliably control the CO₂-emissions of our products.
Resource-saving production
We select the raw materials for our products with an eye to responsible origins. At the same time, we closely cooperate with our customers to prepare for gradually replacing raw materials by recycled ones. The goal is eventually producing using only sustainably recycled materials. We already return residual materials and cut-offs to recycling for this today.
